Morgan Page has been making electronic oriented music since the age of 12. Eventually, he mailed off a few demo cassettes to a local college radio station: WRUV 90.1 FM at the University of Vermont. The DJs loved the tracks and ended up playing the low-fi tapes, regardless of the grainy 8 bit sampled sound. All songs by Morgan, who at that time went under the moniker: Cylus, were made entirely with a low budget program called "Impulse Tracker", which allowed musicians to arrange and compose songs entirely on a computer, without an external sampler. A year later, Morgan mailed a demo tape to 99.9 FM "The Buzz" to production manager and DJ Jason Steeves (formely of WFNX), who hosted an electronic specialty music show on an otherwise commercial station. The tape received weekly airplay. Morgan continued to move forward, buying records, reading the industry publications, and absorbing as many influences he could while working to improve his music.
Eventually, Morgan landed his own weekly radio show on WRUV at the University of Vermont- very rare for a high school student. Originally the show was a spot he was filling for a DJ on the popular Saturday night time slot. This inspiring experience eventually got Morgan into DJing and introduced him to the plethora of domestic and international underground electronic independent record labels which came by the box-load every week. In the early stage of the show, Morgan was mainly playing trance music, but this phase soon died as the radio station starting receiving a few now famous deep and hard house albums: Barada - Strategies For A Deeper Design, Terry Lee Brown Jr. - Chocolate Chords, and Swayzak - Snowboarding in Argentina. These albums entirely changed the way Morgan looked at music, and thus became pivotal points in the music that influenced his creations.
After interning for Plastic City in New York, house music become more and more a labor of love. This prompted Morgan to finally lay down the cash and buy some real music equipment. Always revising and improving his personal music style, Morgan is attending Emerson College and currently making deep house in Boston.
Growing up in a log cabin in rural Vermont, Morgan Page began composing electronic-oriented music at the age of 14. By 15, his work appeared on local college radio and commercial stations in his hometown of Burlington, and began to spread to other cities. Towards the end of high school, Morgan got his own radio show at The University of Vermont, filling in for a friend on a popular Saturday night slot. This turned into a weekly endeavor that introduced Morgan to the vast assortment of electronic music that came by the boxload every week. After hearing Terry Lee Brown Jr.'s "Chocolate Chords", Swayzak's "Snowboarding in Argentina" and Barada's "Strategies For A Deeper Design" tech-house soon became an obsession and a way of life. During the summer of his last years in high school Morgan interned with Rick Salzer at Plastic City in NYC, who introduced him to the music of Timewriter and the world of the music industry. Inspired by the sound and vision of Plastic City, Morgan saved up all his money and began buying studio gear. Armed with an Akai MPC2000 and a few borrowed synthesizers Morgan wrote the Maple Grooves EP on a sweltering August evening for Salzer's Fiji imprint and never looked back. Morgan later continue his college radio career at WERS 88.9 FM in Boston, hosting a weekly mixshow for three years and becoming station manager of the largest and most influential college radio station in the country. Now, at age 24 with several remixes under his belt for Nelly Furtado, Grammy nominee Wax Poetic (Norah Jones), Ashlee Simpson, Jean F. Cochois, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Nigel Hayes, and dozens of critically acclaimed EPs out on labels like Bedrock, SAW, Force Tracks, and Nordic Trax featuring collaborations with Colette, Gregory Shiff, and Astrid Suryanto - Morgan has established himself as a profound producer and highly sought-after remixer. Recently, his music has garnered support from a wide-range of top level DJs including, Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Mark Farina, and Jason Bentley. Several companies have also chosen Morgan's music to set the tone for their movies, tv shows, and retail stores including: Sephora, Victoria's Secret, Chanel, Adidas, Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ecko Clothing, and The Showtime Channel. Currently, Morgan lives in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for the launch of his label. (from mp3.com)
